This page is for people who are interested in licensing as a
Marriage and Family Therapist in Utah.

Licensing is conducted through Utah's Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. The Division carries out all laws and rules related to professional licensing and suggests that you refer to the state's laws and rules through their website. You should read the laws and rules for marriage and family therapists carefully and direct question to the state's licensing division.

Supervision must be provided for unlicensed people as directed by the laws and rules. To find an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, use the AAMFT's directory. Supervisor candidates (those who are in the process of becoming an AAMFT Approved Supervisor) are not listed in the directory. Consult with Approved Supervisors in the general location of interest or look on our website for listings of those who have taken the Fundamentals of Supervision Course and are interested in supervising interns.

You also can look on the UAMFT's Local Job Opportunities webpage for agencies that are willing to hire interns. Many of these agencies provide supervision or are willing to work with interns on securing supervisors.
